The King desired laughter and was eager to impress his mistress, so he called upon his Fool.
The Fool arrived tardy in an unusual costume. He offered no apology but presented himself anxiously.
“I tolerate no such delay! Demonstrate your true worth to my court,” the King commanded, “and to avoid the lash!”
The fellow juggled feebly.
“You’re worthless,” the master barked.
The servant failed when attempting a backflip.
“You’re absolutely worthless!”
The royal palm was incorrectly read.
The Fool carefully struck a match and touched a fuse protruding from his belt.
“That’s not what the rebels told me.”
