With the help of his sons, the farmer carefully loaded chests of dirt onto his cart.
The merchant was noticeably absent, but the soil was left at the crossroads as promised. The farmer was eager to return home and plough this earth into his fields, as the advertised properties may reinvigorate his flagging farm.
Just as his horses started moving, three costumed riders rushed toward him.
These strangers appeared to be priests. One carried an especially large hammer.
“Stop!” one priest shouted.
“Dismount and stand back!” another cried.
“Open the crates!” the third demanded. “We must act with the sun!”
