I’ll just live on Io.
There are volcanoes. There is geothermal power.
This is a dangerous place.
No one will come all this way for me.
Why should anyone want to find me?
This was an accident. A terrible accident. That’s all anyone will suspect or know.
I passed all the exams and assessments. I’m no murderer. I’ll eventually shutdown the computer onboard the lander, but that’s hardly murder.
No one should worry about me. I have the supplies of four people now. I can survive for at least two years. I will want for nothing. If I do get desperate for companionship for food, I’m sure I can find a solution or two. I’m not too good for anyone.
I’ll bury the bodies for now. I’ll have a little memorial garden. I’ll maintain the graves. I’ll be the custodian.
There must be a few quiet spots away from the eruptions and lava. I’m sure I can find a reasonable location.
I’m reasonable. I know a few didn’t believe that at the end, but I’m as a reasonable as anyone.
That’s why I waited until we got to Io.
