“Listen, I need this insurance money, now will you help me or not?”
Brian looked at Rob and back at the car. The river beyond was dark and eerily silent.
“I’ve already reported the thing stolen. Please!”
Brian sighed and nodded just before several thuds emanated from the trunk.
He loved her.
There was no question about that, but he proved a fool.
While he had wisely given up his childish dreams of becoming an astronaut to be with her, his heart had wandered much farther than Mars or Europa.
And she wisely tolerated no rescue mission.
The blizzard had raked Dublin for days. Wind battered the apartment.
“Don’t worry,” he chuckled, “this is nothing like what we got in Buffalo.”
But she was a native and far more pensive.
He scoffed when she mentioned global warming.
“Does it look like it’s warmer outside to you?”
