“Curious Discoveries on Kepler-186f”

Turns out Kepler-186f is very familiar.

The deep space voyage arrived on Kepler-186f to find ruined Byzantine basilicas, shattered mosaics, and a statue of Manuel I.

“New Beginnings” (VSS III)

A set of very short fiction pieces that I originally wrote for Twitter.

This was her first archery contest after hacking her fiancé’s Snapchat

I’m ready,” she said. “I’d like him to hold the target, please?”

He lowered the telephone handset just as a voice answered.

His wife was still gurgling with life.

He didn’t want help to arrive too soon.

From the ground, he could see the graveyard was alive.

Birds.

Rodents.

Insects.

All examples of life.

He no longer could be considered one.

There were more stars in the sky, twilight lingered, and the wind swirled in a peculiar way.

But wheat grew, and that’s what mattered.

The pale visitors struggled more each day, and Samoset suspected Squanto knew their unusual tongue.

But did he want to help? 

Perhaps not.
